Leo N. Reinardy, age 88 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday afternoon, September 5, 2024.
Leo Nicholas, the son of Nicholas "Nick" and Gertrude "Gert" (Rother) Reinardy, was born in Hampton on February 12, 1936. Following his education, Leo continued to help on the family farm and was drafted into United States Army Reserves. On September 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Joanne M. Rotty at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. Throughout their lives, Leo was always there to help Joanne and would often deliver her famous cakes around the area. They also enjoyed traveling by car, and spending time with family and friends prior to her passing on November 10, 2014. Leo was a longtime mechanic at Niebur Implement before being a custodian and rural bus driver with the Hastings School District. Leo enjoyed fishing, keeping things neat and organized in everything he did, and was proud grandpa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; brothers, Michael and Marvin; and by his brothers-in-law, Jerry and Joe Ficker.
Leo is survived by his children, David (Nancy) Reinardy, Karen (Tony) Cox, Julie (Linda) Reinardy and Mark Reinardy; four grandchildren, Jeanna (Scott Schultz) Reinardy, Jessica (James) Treadway, Kristen (Ryan) Mulvenon and Josh (Mollie) Wisdorf; great grandchildren Alex and Charlie Danielson, Titus and Andi Wisdorf, Ada, Sylvia, and Lyra Treadway, Lillian Mulvenon, and Kinsley Cox; siblings, Marjean (James) Kummer, Elaine Ficker, Lois Reinardy; Phyllis Ficker, and Norb (Cindy) Reinardy; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville, with Father Michael McClellan officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Trier.
Family and friends are cordially invited from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning, all at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville.
Leo's family would like to extend a special thank you to Grace Hospice and the staff at Benedictine Senior Living ~ Regina for their love, care, and support they provided to Leo and his family.
