Leo F. Girgen

Leo F. Girgen, age 91, of Hastings, died Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Regina Assisted Living in Hastings after a lengthy illness. Leo Frank Girgen, was born December 23, 1928 on the family farm near Vermillion to Nicholas and Anna (Kieffer) Girgen. He married Ruth M. Demuth, November 27, 1948 at St. Boniface Church in Hastings. Leo worked his entire life as a farmer near Vermillion. Leo is survived by his wife Ruth, his children Jeanne (Ron) Mamer, Lawrence Girgen, Ron (Sue) Girgen and Brenda (Ed) Frandrup; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Florence Banazewski, Lenora Banazewski, and Donna Mae Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 7 siblings, Sylvester Girgen, Lucille Neuman, Mildred Langenfeld, Irene Miller, Bernice Olson, Mary Schiller, and Betty Lencowski. Private family services are being held. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
