LeAnn Margaret Olson

LeAnn M. Olson, age 61, of Hastings, Minnesota, a beloved mother and friend to all, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

LeAnn was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, to David and LaVonne (Swanson) Olson. She grew up in a close-knit family with her beloved sister, Julie, and brother, Brett. LeAnn was especially close to her grandparents, Gertrude and Nels Olson, growing up. She worked as a florist for many years and had a natural eye for color, design, and detail. Her creativity showed not only in her work but in how she carried herself and created a beautiful home.

LeAnn enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—her garden was her pride and joy, in which she was so fond of. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her pets. She especially loved the time she spent with her daughter, Meranda. The two shared a strong bond and made memories together through baking classes, shopping, and getting their nails done. LeAnn loved going out to eat and spending time with her dearest friend, Angela, talking the hours away and picking wildflowers. She also enjoyed a good garage sale or thrift store. She liked the occasional visit to the casino and valued moments of fun and spontaneity.

Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. LeAnn adored her grandchildren and poured her heart into their lives. She made sure they knew they were loved. She enjoyed reading to them and playing outside at the park—blowing bubbles and drawing with chalk.

LeAnn was known for her fiery spirit. She was bold, honest, and unafraid to speak her mind. She had a strong sense of loyalty, a huge heart, and a no-nonsense way of showing up for the people she cared about. She was real—what you saw is what you got—and that honesty drew many people to her doorstep.

She is survived by her daughter, Meranda (Greg Anderson) Olson; grandchildren, Paxton Olson-Carlson, Everly Anderson, and Kinsley Olson; father, David (Shirley) Olson; brother, Brett (Judy) Olson; her beloved dog, Shivela; cat, Fatboy; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVonne Olson; sister, Julie Kenyon; and grandparents, Gertrude and Nels Olson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
