Leah B. Ostrem

December 18, 1918 — July 12, 2012

Leah Bernice Ostrem, age 93, passed away on July 12, 2012, with family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clarence and her brother, Eathen Miller. Leah was born on December 18, 1918, in Rolla, North Dakota to Glenn and Hilda Miller. Leah graduated from Williston High School in 1937. She attended St. Olaf College for one year and then attended Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing where she proudly graduated as a registered nurse in 1941. Later that same day she married Clarence.
Leah loved her family and was so proud of them. She treasured being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by daughters: Carolyn Sentman, Marlys (Bruce) Axelson, and Celeste (Jim) Delap; grandchildren: Lynn (Joe) Schmitt, Mark (Virginia) Sentman, Suzanne (Jason) Dack, Rachel (Paul) Johnson, Tegan Delap and Maren Delap; great grandchildren: Leah, Andrew, Danielle, Zachary, Nylah, Matthew, Raina, Valerie, Tyler, Quincy, and Malcolm.
The Celebration of Life Service will be on July 16, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church, 5300 10th Ave. South, Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior. Private burial will be at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Research at the U of MN or Fairview Hospice.
