Lawrence M. Ovsak

Lawrence M. Ovsak, age 92 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Augustana Care of Hastings. Lawrence Michael, the son of Michael and Cecilia (Yanish) Ovsak, was born at the family farm in River Falls, Wisconsin, on August 15, 1923. He continued to farm until later working at H.D. Hudson Mfg. in Hastings. On February 22, 1969, Lawrence was united in marriage to Florence (Wagie) Haas in Hastings. Lawrence enjoyed playing Canasta, solitaire, puzzles, "fill-ins", reading the newspaper and watching the Minnesota Twins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; his daughter, Shirley Haas; his great grandchild, Andrew Dally and by his siblings. Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Darlene Dally of Coon Rapids; his three grandchildren, Mike (Angela) Dally, Nadine (Ken) Gilmer and Janine (Tom) OConnoll; six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
