Franklin, Lawrence “Larry” E.

Age 92 of Bloomington, passed away on Aug. 28, 2017. Preceded in death by loving wife of 60 years, Helen; parents and siblings. Survived by children, Jim, Jeanne (Mark) Taylor and Sue (Tom) Peterson; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan), Christy, Cari (Kerry), Ryan and Ben; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Hannah; brother, Dwane (Carolyn) Franklin; many other family and friends. Larry served on a Sims-class destroyer, USS Anderson (DD-411) during and after WWII that included action in the South Pacific, including the Battle of the Coral Sea. He earned a Purple Heart as a result of a suicide attack on November 1, 1944. Memorial Service at 11am on Tues., Sept. 5, 2017 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. Interment for Larry and Helen at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
