Lawrence Martin Kummer

Lawrence “Larry” Kummer, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born January 12, 1951, in Hastings to Helen (Bauer) and Martin Kummer, he attended Hastings High School. He went on to spend his life doing what he loved most—farming. Whether it was tending his cows, caring for the crops, or just being out on the land, the farm was his true passion.

Larry also knew how to have fun. He enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, playing cards, and spending time at Treasure Island. In later years, he looked forward to Bingo with friends and family. He was a big sports fan, loved horse racing (and the occasional bet), and always enjoyed heading north to the cabin for a getaway.

He’ll be remembered as a kind, hardworking man who was always on the move and happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Martin, and his brother-in-law, Cy Schmitz. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children, Eddie, Brad (Elizabeth), and Candace (Jake) Siebenaler; grandchildren, Ben, Allison, Brooklyn, and Derek; siblings, Joe (Barb), Bob, Mike (Cindy), Carol Schmitz, Paul (Pat), Mary (Gary) Rondeau, Jane (Pat) Schmitt, Barb (Ted) Kranz; and many more relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, with visitation starting at 9:00 AM.
