Lavona F. Meyer, age 92, of Hastings and formerly St. Paul, died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, following an extended illness. Lavona Frances, the daughter of Anthony and Theresa (Wermerskirchen) Guldan, was born on March 5, 1924 in St. Paul, Minnesota. On October 29, 1949, Lavona was united in marriage to Richard E. Meyer in St. Paul and they were blessed with two children, Arnold and Cindy. He later preceded her in death on November 12, 2012. Lavona was a longtime homemaker and caregiver. She truly enjoyed all music, especially playing the piano and singing. Lavona and her sister Geri also played for the Northwestern Bell Kitten Baseball Team in St. Paul during WWII. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Guldan and Germaine Norton; husband, Richard; and recently, her son, Arnold "Arnie" Meyer on March 25, 2016. Lavona is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Terry) Terhell of St. Paul Park; her daughter-in-law, Candy Meyer of Hastings; her six grandchildren and tengreat grandchildren; her brother, James (June) Guldan of Woodbury; and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville, with Father Terry Beeson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at church. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
