LaVern P. McCauley “Vern”, age 85,?An Extraordinary Irishman?, of Apple Valley, formerly of Mendota. Vern joined his eternal family in Heaven on Saturday, April 1, 2011. Born in St. Paul on July 25, 1925 to John and Della McCauley and attended Monroe High School. Vern was a wonderful father, grandpa, and great-grandpa to his family. Preceded in death by his wife Edith “Frenchy” (nee: Robinette), sons Punky and Timmy, and grandchildren Sean and Melissa. Survived by sister Maureen ?Moe?, son Pat and his fiance??(TM) Audrey Holmberg, daughter Linda (Curt) Neraasen, daughter Colleen (Tom) Bradsher, son Mike (Karen), 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, plus an abundance of friends. Vern retired from Horner-Waldorf after 50-plus years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Mendota VFW and the Apple Valley American Legion. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, April 6 at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley (952) 432-2331. Visitation is 10:30-11 AM Wednesday. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family preferred.
