Lavern J. "Wally" Wahlstrom

Lavern J. �Wally� Wahlstrom, age 89 of Hastings, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Augustana Care Center. Lavern was born August 26, 1919 in Red Wing to Oscar and Minnie (Burr) Wahlstrom. He was united in marriage to Eldora Eiler on January 4, 1944 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. Lavern was employed for many years as a Maintenance Mechanic at Koch Refinery. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents; children, Dianne, Patricia, and James; sisters, Lorraine Reinardy,Celestine Collins, Murial Hageman, Marion Wahlstrom, and Ruth Cedar. He is survived by his wife, Eldora of Hastings; son, Laverne C. �Wally� (Jennifer Niebur) Wahlstrom of Hastings; grandchildren, Deanna, Charles, Amy, Christopher, Brenda, Eric, and Ryan; 11 great grandchildren; and brother, Bob Wahlstrom. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Thursday, March 19, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings with interment at St. Pius V Cemetery in Cannon Falls. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 4:00�7:00pm at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings and one hour prior to the service at church. The pallbearers are Eric, Ryan, Christopher, and Charles Wahlstrom, Deanna and Adam Zieske.
