Elhard, Lara Jean On July 25th Lara, 46, a beautiful soul, wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend went home to heaven. She was inspirational, instrumental, loving and caring. The tremendous courage she displayed in her fight with ovarian cancer is an inspiration to everyone she touched. She earned a B.A. Degree from Augsburg College and a Masters Degree from the U of M with a focus and passion in education and family. Although Laras journey has ended she touched the lives of so many throughout her years, and will be deeply missed. The joy and excitement that she brought to so many children during her tenure at a Montessori Center will never be forgotten. Her amazing spirit lives on in all those she knew and cared about. Survived by parents Joanne James and Donald Elhard, sister Kathryn Cassell, brother and wife David and Michelle Elhard, and nephews/nieces, Ian, Jacob and Anna. She is preceded in death by her sister Terena Kay and grandmothers, Lillian Femrite and Tillie Jahnke. Celebration of her life will be held at Hastings United Methodist Church, 615 West 15th Street on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 with Visitation 10-11AM, Service at 11AM and a luncheon to follow. Memorials preferred to MOCA (Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance) or Hastings United Methodist Church Youth Programs.
