Kurt H. Kohn, age 75 of Hastings, died peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Kurt, the son of Karl and Gertrude (Weidner) Kohn, was born on October 6, 1939 in Leisserheim, Prussia. He arrived in the United States at the age of 15 and traveled by train to Valley City, ND, on December 24, 1954. He married Joyce Ireland on September 1, 1962 at the Congregational Church in Valley City. He was then drafted and served in the Army from May 12, 1963 and discharged on April 30, 1970. He moved to Hastings, MN with Joyce in 1965. He was employed at Con Agra Mills for 20 years. He also worked at Cenex Land OLakes and Target. He is preceded by his parents and brothers Gerhard and Fritz. He is survived by his wife Joyce; three children Kristi (Mike) Minnaert of Hastings, Kevin Kohn of Kenyon, and Kory Kohn of Hastings; three grandchildren Megan and Mikayla Minnaert of Hastings and Jacob Kohn of Osceola, WI; sister Gisela (Al) Cruchet of Hankinson, ND; sister-in-law Diane Kohn; many nieces and nephews. Kurt was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved spending time having morning coffee with his buddies at the Bierstube. Kurt also loved spending time with family and especially the grandkids. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given in honor of Kurt to the charity of your choice. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Our Saviours Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West 9th St. Hastings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Military honors will be provided by the Hastings VFW Post #1210. Honorary pallbearers will be Cal Ruedy, Steve Majeski, Pete Karpen and Bruce Bauer.
