Kenneth Gregory LaFavor

Kenneth G. LaFavor, age 60, formerly of Hastings and currently of Aitkin, Minnesota, passed away at the lake up north, one of his favorite places.

Ken was born on July 9, 1965, in Ramsey County, Minnesota. He was adopted by Gregory and Gloria (Harwell) LaFavor and raised in Hastings alongside his siblings, David and Julie. Ken graduated from Hastings High School in 1984, where lifelong friendships were formed and many cherished memories began.

From a young age, Ken had a deep love for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and playing hockey at the park with his buddies were among his greatest joys. That passion stayed with him throughout his life and became a cornerstone of time spent with his family.

Ken met the love of his life, Joan Anderson, while working at Treasure Island Resort and Casino. They were married on September 27, 1986, and shared 39 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised their two daughters, Kristin and Kayla, in Hastings, creating a home filled with laughter, adventure, and love.

Family meant the world to Ken. Some of his favorite times were spent up north at the cabin, fishing, riding ATVs, and enjoying the outdoors with those he loved. Ken had a quick wit and a smart-aleck sense of humor and was always pulling pranks or making people laugh. He was truly one of a kind. When the grandchildren came along, they became his pride and joy, and everything revolved around them. He especially loved sharing candy with the kids, a small tradition that brought him so much happiness.

Each family member shared something special with Ken. Joan cherished their pontoon rides together. Kayla loved hunting with her dad. Kristin treasured simply being up north with him.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joan LaFavor; daughters Kristin (Cory) Card and Kayla (Dylan) Andersen; and his beloved grandchildren Logan, Walker, and Octavia. He is also survived by his father, Greg LaFavor; siblings David (Judy) LaFavor and Julie (Eric) Meidinger; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria LaFavor.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
