Kenneth J. Chavie

Kenneth J. Chavie, age 83 of Hastings, died peacefully on Monday evening, October 16, 2017, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Kenneth Jerome, the son of George and Caroline (Feldman) Chavie, was born on August 31, 1934, in Faribault, Minnesota. Following his education, Ken began his life-long career with the United States Post Office, first St. Paul as a mailroom assistant and later as a carrier until his retirement from the Hastings office. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Blaeser and was blessed with five children. Ken later met Jacqueline Norton and became best friends for almost twenty years before her passing. Ken enjoyed fishing, spending time at his cabin on Fish Trap Lake in Motley, playing cribbage and 500 rummy, and most of all, spending time with his family who gave him such joy. Towards the end of his journey, Kens sense of humor will forever leave an impact on his family and the caretakers at Regina. "Boo" He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Jacqueline Norton. Ken is survived by his children, Lori (Howard) Siebenaler, Joannie (Leo) Bauer, Bill Chavie (special friend, Bea Vega), John (Kim) Chavie, and Tom (Debbie) Chavie; his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Owen Chavie; and by many other relatives and friends. Private family services will be held, with interment following at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
