Kaye J Keene

Kaye J. Keene, age 82, of Hastings, passed away Mar. 21, 2018 with her family by her side at United Hospital in St. Paul. Kaye was more than a daughter, wife, and mother. She was a tenacious caregiver for her husband Tom, who was her high school sweetheart. Early in their marriage, Tom injured his neck resulting in quadriplegia. Kaye’s love and devotion allowed her to begin a new role as a caregiver for her husband and three children. Kaye also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A couple of her hobbies included sewing, road trips, and electronics. She always talked about how she wanted to sneak into the annual electronics show. Kaye was very proud of her driving skills and squeaky clean driving record! The circle of life brought Kaye form a caregiver to needing 24-hour care. Her declining health prevented her from all the things she loved so much. The great thing is she never lost her sense of humor! We would like to thank all of our family, friends and the caregivers at Regina for being an important part of Kaye’s life. She was preceded in death by husband, Tom Keene; son, Cub Keene; granddaughter, Lynsay Nieman. Kaye is survived by daughter, Kristi (Ken) Nieman; son, Kirt Keene; daughters in law, Jennifer Keene, and Becky Keene; grandchildren, Nikki (Josh) Ritter; Spencer, Jessop, and Annie Keene; Dickie (Liz), Gretchen and Libby Keene; great-grandchildren, Easton and Kayleigh Ritter; other relatives and friends A memorial service will be held on Saturday (3/24) at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 615 Vermillion St., Hastings. A gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery in Denmark Township. Wise Family Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
