Kathleen R. Sigtermans

Kathleen "Kay" (Curtis) Sigtermans, age 79, of Hastings passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Kay was born January 22, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and married Pieter "Pete" Sigtermans in Aprilof 1956. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma before settling in Hastings, Minnesota in 1959, when Pete got a job with Northwest Airlines. Kay worked for True Value Hardware and Just Thinking Book Store in Hastings for many years. She enjoyed reading books, tennis, playing piano, gardening and traveling the world. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Pieter, son Walter (Marlien) Sigtermans, daughter Sara (Vic) Wittgenstein, sister Barbara Twitchell and grandchildren Louis, Nadine, Renee, Victor IV, Clara and Gabrielle. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Dorothy Sandahl will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street in Hastings, with a gathering one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Mayo Clinic for HHT Research.
