Kathleen M. "Kathy" Maaske, age 72 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on July 10, 2020. Kathleen was born on September 21, 1947, in Hastings to Mathias and Genevieve (Knoll) Haas. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1965, Kathy was united in marriage to Richard Maaske on July 12, 1968, at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Kathy worked briefly at Smead Mfg., Midwest Spring, Jensen Electronics, Gold Battery, and Profile Extrusions (now Intek Plastics) until her retirement. Kathy was an avid bowler and maintained a high average over the years. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, Bingo, playing cards with her sister, and cribbage. Kathy also enjoyed going to Treasure Island with her friends. Most of all, Kathy loved her grandchildren and was dedicated to attending their events. She was a very good cook, and always enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Richard; son, Rich (Samantha) Maaske; grandsons, Zachary and Christopher Maaske; siblings, Ken Haas, Lawrence (Dorothy) Haas, Gary (Nikki) Haas, Laurie (Mike) Ellsworth, and Steve (Sandy) Haas; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.
