Kathleen "Kathy" Schackman

Kathleen L. "Kathy" Schackman, age 69 of Hastings, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2025.

Kathleen Lucille, the daughter of Eric and Clarice (Fondow) Holmlund, was born on November 19, 1955, in South Minneapolis. Following her graduation from Henry High School, Kathy briefly worked in debt collection agencies prior to her longtime career in retail merchandizing and sales. On May 6, 1995, she was united in marriage to Phillip "Phil" Schackman in Minneapolis. They created many wonderful memories traveling and time spent with family and friends.

Outside of work, Kathy had a true knack for decorating, especially around Christmas. She would often times be complemented by neighbors and members of the community for the way her home was precisely decorated. She was a true Viking fan at heart, and made sure her family was right there with her too. Kathy enjoyed the simple times of listening to music too, she simply knew every song. Most of all, she loved her daughter and cherished her two grandchildren with her whole heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edward and Sandra; father-in-law, William; and by her nephew, JJ Giebel.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Phil; daughter, Erin (Kevin) Cogswell; grandchildren, Kaler and Elle; siblings, Debra Norby, Charles (Teressa) Holmund, Susie Holmund, Robert Holmund, and Cheryl (David) Barton; mother-in-law, Carole Schackman; sister-in-law, Cindy Schackman (John): and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Kathy's Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Pastor Jim Bzoskie officiating.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Kathy's family requests those in attendance wear bright colors as we gather to celebrate her life.
