Kathleen “Kathy” Carolyn Cook
February 4, 1947 – September 5, 2025
On Friday, September 5, 2025, Kathleen “Kathy” Cook, age 78, passed away unexpectedly at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. It is with God’s perfect timing, she departed this life on her beloved mother’s birthday, a gift of a heavenly reunion for her entire family.
Kathy was born on February 4, 1947, in Minneapolis to Victor and Helen (Cooper) Cook. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity First Lutheran Church and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
Following secretarial school, Kathy embarked on a long and fulfilling career as an administrative assistant. Her work opened the door to unforgettable experiences, including watching the Minnesota Vikings win in London in 1983 followed by travel to Paris and Amsterdam.
Kathy found joy in life’s simple pleasures, many rooted in love, laughter, and cherished traditions. Christmas was her favorite season, she delighted in decorating early and enjoying classic holiday movies for as long as possible. She loved shopping, whether strolling through Bachman’s and home décor stores or browsing QVC from the comfort of her home. Dining out brought her great happiness, not just for the food, but for the time shared with others.
Above all, Kathy treasured her time with family and friends. She had a warm, generous spirit and a giving heart; always remembering birthdays and special occasions with thoughtful cards or perfectly chosen gifts from her heart. A devoted daughter, she cared deeply for her mother’s well-being. She took great pride in her nieces, nephew and their families. Her friendships were deep and enduring; those closest to her became her chosen family.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Helen Cook, and her three brothers: Vic (Barb), Ron, and Walt. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Shelley (Terry) Markley, Laurie (Mike) Thorsen, Brad (Jan) Cook, and Debbi (Jim) Johnson; her sister-in-law, Lauree Menk; four great-nieces, five great-nephews, and many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were brightened by her kindness and light.
Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the ICU staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
