Karen Ann Damsgard

Karen Ann Damsgard, age 63 of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016, surrounded by family. Karen, the daughter of Ralph & Lorraine (Macheska) Damsgard, was born on February 2nd, 1953 in Hastings, MN. She was a 1971 graduate of Hastings High School and was employed by Smead Manufacturing for over 25 years. She later enjoyed driving for the Hastings Area Schools. Karen was also a member of the local VFW Auxiliary. In her free time, Karen enjoyed playing bingo with friends & family, creating ceramics and cooking. She also had a big heart for all animals but especially loved her cats. Karen was an avid Vikings fan. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Monroe and her brother Kenny Damsgard. Karen is survived by her siblings, John (Dawn) Damsgard, Lisa (Butch) Chapin, Patti (Dave) McNurlin and Mary (Jim) Paddock, sister-in-law Roxy Damsgard, brother-in-law Henry Monroe and by 14 nieces and nephews, plus many great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. And also by special care giver Dawn Smith. A Memorial Service, officiated by Gordon Gathright, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings.
