She was preceded in death by sisters, Kirsti Heinonen and Maire Liiste. She is survived by daughter Kirsti Johnson; grandsons, Eric and Roger Johnson; sister, Anni Heinonen (Finland); nephew, Matti (Ritva) Liiste and many dear friends. Kaisu was born in the far southeastern corner of Finland known as Karelia. After Russia invaded Finland in November 1939, Kaisu and her family moved near Helsinki. While in her 20’s, she served in the Finnish Army as an office clerk during the Winter War. A few years after the war, she decided to join her eldest sister and family in Minneapolis, MN in the Twin Cities. She worked for over 25 years as a nurse’s aide at the Deaconess Hospital and at various nursing homes. Even after her retirement, she continued to volunteer at nursing homes. She will be fondly remembered for her old world charm. She enjoyed baking various Finnish delicacies, especially her signature cardamom bread. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held, 11:00 AM, Friday, August 8, 2008 with visitation one hour before, at Mt. Olivet Careview Home Chapel, 5517 Lyndale Ave., Minneapolis. Lunch to follow
