Justin M. Bowers

Justin M. Bowers, 37, of Rochester, formerly of Hastings, passed away peacefully in his sleep unexpectedly on December 28, 2025, while visiting family.

Justin was born on December 20, 1988, in Hastings to David Hines and Sabrina Bowers. From the start, he was someone who put his whole heart into the things he loved. Weightlifting was more than a hobby—it was where he found strength, purpose, and brotherhood with his gym brothers. He was also a talented softball player and a true hands on kind of guy, gifted with his hands and proud of his work as a carpenter.

Justin was known for his determination and his ability to rebuild, not just projects, but his life. He spent more than four years in recovery, a journey he was deeply proud of. Along the way, he met the love of his life, Laura, and together they were building a new chapter filled with hope, laughter, and plans for the future. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring and supportive staff at Doc’s Recovery, who played such an important role in Justin’s journey.

Justin was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Lorentz; his grandmothers, Olivia Bowers and Mary Jo Olson; his future mother-in-law, Mary Beth Paulson; and his cousin, Wesley Crisp.

He will be deeply missed by his parents, Dave (Deb) Hines and Sabrina Bowers; his fiancée, Laura Madsen; his future stepchildren, Jayden, Tenley, and Rhyder; his siblings, Paul (Kate) Lorentz, Kayla Hines (Tom Truax), Jacob (Lindsay) Hines, Alicia Bowers, and Tyler Bowers; his grandparents, Robert Bowers; Joe and Judy Hines; and Cliff and Kathy Olson; his beloved dog, Bella; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street in Hastings. The memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM.

Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
