J.T. "Jake" Langenfeld

J.T. "Jake" Langenfeld, age 82 of Hastings, died November 1, 2015 at his residence.John Tyler was born March 18, 1933 in Hastings to Alois and Eleanor (Lovejoy) Langenfeld. A 1952 graduate of Hastings High School, he was a State Champion Wrestler and also played football for Hastings. Jake served as a Navy Seabee in Guam during the Korean War and was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He was a member of the Hastings American Legion Post 47, Ducks Unlimited and Minnesota Waterfowl Assn. Jake married Yvonne Molitor at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings on August 18, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 27, 1988. He was a retired employee of Koch Refinery.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Yvonne and sister Mary Gayle Langenfeld.Jake is survived by his daughter Susan Tate of Hastings and son John Langenfeld of Rosemount; grandchildren John Tate and Jacob Langenfeld; siblings Joan (Jim) Grier of Hastings, Maureen (Pat) Coles of Seattle, WA, Bob (Heidi) Langenfeld of Hastings, Tom Langenfeld of Prescott, WI, Mike (Nancy) Langenfeld of Hastings, Dave (Michelle) Langenfeld of Green Bay, WI and Dan Langenfeld of St. Paul; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 6, 2015 at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with Fr. David Hennen officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Thursday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings and also Friday one hour prior to service at church. Interment with Military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike, Tom, Dave, Dan, Bob and Jacob Langenfeld.
