Joshua "Josh" Wagner

Joshua (Josh) James Wagner, age 25 of Hastings, passed away July 10, 2017, at the University of Minnesota Masonic Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis, following a 5 1/2 year battle with cancer.Josh was born September 11, 1991, to Jim Apryl (Holty) Wagner. Josh was a courageous young man that truly loved life. He spent many years working at the local Dairy Queen where he and his brother Cody were student managers. Josh was compassionate and caring; always putting others needs above his own. Josh had a passion for sports and loved spending time with his family and many friends. His cancer caused him delays in completing his college education, but because his motto was "Giving up isnt an option" he graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls in December 2016.Josh was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alice Elverum; great grandparents, Glenn Lyla Ferley, Howard Holty, Jeannette Charles Black, and Al Sue Wagner.He is survived by his parents Jim Apryl Wagner; brother, Cody (fiance, Alyssa Biscoe); grandparents, Leroy Wagner and Jerry Linda Holty; many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as many other relatives friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Jason Thiel and Reverend Jon Zimplemann, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings, and will continue at church on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Joshs family requests memorials be designated to a newly established scholarship in his name at University of Wisconsin River Falls to continue his legacy through others, or to future research and treatment of Ewing Sarcoma in his memory. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
