Joseph "Joe" John L'Allier

Joseph "Joe" John L'Allier, age 59, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Joe was born on March 25, 1967, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Gerald "Jerry" and Ginette L'Allier. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1986 before attending Saint Paul Technical College, where he trained as an electrician. He went on to build a successful career in the electrical trade and proudly founded L'Allier Electric in 2004. He also founded AL Services and proudly owned and operated both businesses. Joe believed in doing things the right way, even when no one was watching. His honesty, quality workmanship, and integrity earned him the trust and respect of countless customers, friends, and fellow tradesmen.

Joe had a lifelong passion for building, fixing, and creating just about anything. There wasn't much he couldn't figure out. He loved building motorcycles, hunting, restoring and enjoying classic cars, collecting firearms, trap shooting, dirt track racing, and fishing the Great Lakes, especially Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Among his favorite projects were his treasured 1955 Chevrolet pickup and 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, both restored with the same patience, pride, and craftsmanship that defined everything he did.

The one thing that stayed constant throughout Joe's life was his ability to forge meaningful, lifelong friendships wherever he went. He never met a stranger for long. Before you knew it, you were talking about cars, hunting, fishing, or whatever project he had going, and somehow you left feeling like an old friend. Joe was the epicenter of his community, and no matter where he went, it seemed like he knew someone, or they knew him. He was honest, genuine, kind, and endlessly generous with his time and talents. More than anything, Joe wanted the people around him to be as happy as he was, and he had a remarkable way of making others feel welcome, valued, and at home.

Above all else, Joe's greatest joy was his family. His love was steady, unconditional, and evident in everything he did. He was never happier than when he was spending time with those he loved, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Jodie; his daughters, Amanda (Eric) Yager, Mackenzie L'Allier, and Mikayla (Jason) Bell; his mother, Ginette L'Allier; his cherished grandchildren, Iviee, Izzy, Lily, Ayva, Carson, and Isla; two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Daniel (Tabitha), Jeremy (LuAnn), Andrew (Stephanie), and Benjamin (Terah) L'Allier; his sister, Melinda (Dave) Lutz; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends; and his favorite son, Stanley the dog.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald "Jerry" L'Allier.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, Minnesota.

Memorials are preferred to the family in lieu of flowers.

Joe's legacy is not measured by the things he built, but by the people he loved and the lives he touched. His lessons, his work ethic, his kindness, and his unwavering love for his family will continue to live on in those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed every day, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
