John William Rawling

John William Rawling John William Rawling, age 88 of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away at Regina Hospital with his family by his side on Thursday, July 11, 2019. John was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 30, 1931, the son of Marie (Schmidt) and Wellington Rawling. He graduated from high school and went on to receive his Bachelors of Business degree from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served as a Master Sergeant for over 22 years. John married the love of his life, Ruth Earline Staffon, on May 21, 1955. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked as a plant scheduler at Unisys for many years before retiring. John is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Wellington Rawling; his son, Paul Rawling; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rawling; and his brothers, Edward Rawling, Giles Rawling, and Joel Rawling. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Rawling of Hastings, MN; his son, William "Bill" (Tammy) Rawling of Hastings, MN; his daughter, Marla (Erich) Rawling Gjovig of Crystal, MN; his daughter-in-law, Margaret Rawling of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren, Rhiannon (Alain Wouterlood) Rawling of Utrecht, Netherlands, Skyler Rawling of Hastings, MN, Stu Rawling of Hastings, MN, Scott Mearns of Greenock, Scotland, Shelly Mearns of Greenock, Scotland, Shaun (Joel) Era-Atwood of San Diego, CA, and Katie Schanus of Brooklyn Center, MN; his great-grandson, Bentley Schafer-Rawling of Hastings, MN; and other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th Street, Hastings, MN 55033. The family invites friends to join for a visitation from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Military honors will follow the service with a reception in the church hall. A private interment for John will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
