John T. "Jack" Gores

John T. "Jack" Gores, age 66, of Coates, MN died Sunday, 12/7/2014. Jack was born August 18, 1948 in St. Paul, MN to Jerome N. and Bernice H. "Corky" (Gorgus) Gores. He attended and graduated from Rosemount High School in 1966 and from Harvard University. He was Mayor of Coates for many years and was a retired businessman. He dearly loved his family especially his 3 grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Robin, and a brother Melvin "Bud" Gores. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, 3 children Christopher (Cathy) Gores of Coates, Matthew (Brigit) Gores of Rosemount, Laura Gores of Coates; 3 grandchildren Nicholas, Allison and Paris; 3 siblings Camille (Darryl) Nelson of Vermillion, Michael (Linda) Gores of Coates and Kimberly (Randy) Nusser of Apple Valley; a sister-in-law Pauline Barrett of Sharon, VT as well as several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Richard Mahoney, will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Agathas Catholic Church in Coates. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Wednesday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings. There will be no visitation Thursday at the church.
