John "Jack" Stern

John F. "Jack" Stern, age 70 of Hastings died Friday, July 29, 2016 John Francis, the son of Gerald and Margaret (Kordosky) Stern was born January 13, 1946 in Hastings. He was a 1964 graduate of Hastings High School and a member of the Hastings Raiders "Chain Gang" for many years. Jack retired after 44 years with Smead Manufacturing. He loved all sports, especially golf, enjoyed "going south" to Treasure Island and often was nicknamed "The Keno Kid." He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and LeRoy. Jack is survived by his son, Tom (Michelle) Stern of Hastings and daughter, Shelly Stern of Red Wing; grandsons, Andrew and Matthew; forever friend, Kathy Ritchie; brother, Jerry (Karen) Stern of White Bear Lake; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with Fr. T.J. McKenzie officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are with Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, Hastings.
