John "Jack" Piehl

John (Jack) Piehl, age 79, of Hastings, passed away peacefully August 8, 2017 with his children by his side. He was born on March 27, 1938 to John & Florence Piehl. He was a graduate of Hastings High School and then served in the Army. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a proud 49’ers Union member. He met and eventually married Madge Hildebrandt on April 10, 1970. John was a kind and friendly person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, John & Florence Piehl; his wife of 41 years, Madge. He is survived by his sisters, Judy (Everett) Bullis; Mary (Scott) Bright; brother, Donald (Anne); children, Jason (Laura); Pamela; granddaughters, Kimberly and Kristin; many relatives and friends. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Gordon Gathright, will be held on Monday (8/14) at 11:00 a.m. at Wise Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 400 Spring St., Hastings with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery.
