John Francis "Jack"Judge, age 89, of Hastings, died January 14, 2010 at United Hospital in St. Paul. John was born February 1, 1920 inMarshan Townshipto John and Clare (Steffen) Judge, and attended Guardian Angels Schools. He served as SergeantFirst Class in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1962 after a 20 year career. John later went on towork and retirefrom CF Industries. He was an avid flower gardener, and was well known for his beautiful flower gardens and pristine landscapingat his home on2nd Street; and was a very generous and honorable individual. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Eileen, John Francis, Albert, and Katherine; brothers Kenneth and Owen; sisters Mary Jo Reuter and Kathleen Sobaskie. John is survived by his daughters Mary Cofer and Deborah Jones, both of Hastings; grandchildren, Angela, Katie, Amie, Sarah, Alex, Abbie, Noah, and Sam; great-grandchildren, Sarina, Madelyn, and John; sisters, Margaret Denn of Grantsburg, WI, Sr. Florence Judge, RSMof Baltimore, MD, Maxine (Marvin) Raway of Hastings, Charlotte Meier of Grantsburg, WI, and Patricia Schmitz of Hastings; also many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be held 10AM Thursday, January 21, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth Street, Hastings, with visitation 4-8PM Wednesday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, with full military honors and pallbearers provided by the U.S. Army Funeral Honors Team.
