John H. Hoffmann

John H. Hoffmann, age 83, of Hastings, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the United Hospital in St. Paul. John was born February 1, 1926 in Hampton to Henry and Anna (Irrthum) Hoffmann. He worked in the construction industry as an excavator. John married Lois Callahan on April 11, 1986 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lois; three sisters, Delores Halfen, Veronica Kummer, Betty Lou Hoffmann; and brother Leonard Hoffmann. John is survived by his sisters, Emma Siebenaler of Hastings, Mary (Lawrence) Peine of Hampton, and Pat Faast of Eau Claire, WI; brothers-in-law, Norbert Halfen and Martin Kummer, both of Hastings; sister-in-law Charlotte Hoffmann of LaCrosse, WI; also many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. James Perkl will be held 10AM, Monday, October 5, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the Monday service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude�s Children�s Hospital. The pallbearers are William Siebenaler, Joseph Gores, Paul Hoffmann, Henry Halfen, George Meyers, and Sue Faast. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Matthews, Jim Maher, Jim Gores, Greg Rother, Martin Kummer, Harry Thurmes, Tom Trenary, and Sandy Foss.
