John B. Landmeyer

John B. Landmeyer, age 60 of Cottage Grove, died suddenly while ice fishing on Mille Lacs Lake on Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2022. Through this difficult time, we find comfort knowing John's favorite place to be was on Mille Lacs and at his cabin, so we know he was enjoying life right up to his final moments. John Benjamin, the son of Norbert and Phyllis (Ford) Landmeyer, was born on August 6, 1961, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. John grew up playing golf at Coulee Golf Course with many buddies in his childhood years and has kept the friendships he made still to this day. Following his graduation from Onalaska High School, John's career brought him to Cottage Grove, Minnesota. After meeting at work, John was united in marriage to Sandy Murray on May 20, 1989, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. John, or more commonly known as the "Cheese Doctor", was an owner of Cady Creek Farms/DDS with his wife Sandy and their partners Pete and Diane DeMars. After selling the business, he became the “Cheesewich Doctor” and worked with Tony Migacz’s family to grow the Cheesewich brand as National Sales Manager. John was also a diehard Green Bay Packer fan and longtime season ticket holder. Most of all, he was an avid fisherman and golfer who loved any opportunity to be outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents; cousin, Dalton Ford; and by his niece, Laura Landmeyer; sister in laws, Karen (Frandrup) Murray and Kathy (Sieben) Murray. John is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Al (Sarah Palmer) Landmeyer; brothers, Jeff (Gail) Landmeyer and Gary (Denise) Landmeyer; the extended Murray Family; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of John's Life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, March 1, 2022, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. A brief memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with John's longtime friend Pastor Scott Skogen officiating. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
