Joel V. Haugley

Joel V. Haugley, age 81, of Hastings, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. Joel Vincent was born April 26, 1934 in Fairfax, MN to Joseph and Viola (Rohde) Haugley. He was a graduate of Humboldt High School in St. Paul and worked as a meat cutter at various meat packing plants and in maintenance at Hastings School District 200. Joel married Frances (Dekart) Platson on October 13, 1968 in Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Bill Miller, Joel Haugley, and Scott Platson; and brother Lorrell Haugley. Joel is survived by his wife Fran; children Mike Miller, Jerry Haugley, Francine Hillier, Richard Platson, Lu Ann Kuth, Ronald Platson, Mark Platson, Tom Haugley and Jeffrey Platson; also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings with visitation held after 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Stephen Hatter will officiate.
