Joanne E. Olson

JoAnne E. Olson, age 85 of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, September 17, 2018, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. JoAnne passed away following a long battle with Alzheimers disease which she fought with dignity and grace. JoAnne Elizabeth, the daughter of John and Anne (Huckenpahler) Greten, was born on January 24, 1933, in Hastings. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1950, JoAnne was united in marriage to H.E. Roderick Olson on September 27, 1952. JoAnne was a longtime Clerical Assistant at Dakota County Abstract in Hastings. She was a lifelong resident of Hastings, and a very talented quilter and knitter. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Paul Greten. JoAnne is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Rod Olson; children, Duane (Charlotte) Olson, Keith (Rita) Olson, Dale (Alice McGuiggan) Olson, Mark (Virginia) Olson, Jean (David) Olson, and Eric (Julie) Olson; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Michael Barsness officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery following Mass. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimers Association, Sharing and Caring Hands, Regina Auxiliary, Hastings Family Service, or to the donors choice in JoAnnes memory. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
