Joan M. Voelker

Joan M. Voelker, age 87 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Regina Transitional Care in Hastings, following an extended illness. Joan was born June 21, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Monroe High School in St. Paul with the class of 1948. She was married to Robert "Bud" Voelker on June 28, 1958, at St. Mathews Church in St. Paul. She loved gardening, raising beautiful irises and roses, at her long time home on First Street in Hastings. Her family was extremely important in her life. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Robert "Bud" Voelker, sister; Carol Burth, brothers; Leo Pierce, Clarence, Don, and Paul Burth. She is survived by her sons; Bob Voelker, Jr. of Hastings, Tim Voelker of Hastings, Steve (April) Voelker of Hastings, daughters; Jill Voelker of Stillwater, Ann (Patrick) Story of Prescott, WI. grandchildren; Sara, Tanner, Amber, Tim, Alex and Kylie, great grandchild Makena, her brothers; Bob Pierce, Jim Pierce, Gene (Mary) Burth, Joe (Lorry) Burth, Mike ( Maureen) Burth, sisters; Kate Burth and Mary Burth; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Caturia-Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Thursday January 18, 2018 with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings.
