Joan M. Schoenecker

Joan M. Schoenecker, age 60, of Hastings, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away at home after a year long battle with cancer January 22, 2021. She was a high school Science and AVID teacher in Minneapolis for 30 years. Joan was an avid gardener who loved to travel, hike and go on bike rides. She was an amazing cook and baker who loved to listen to music and go to wine tastings. Joan loved her time at her parent's and sister's cabin, where she enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and just spending time on the water. She was very accepting and understanding of others and was blessed with wonderful friends. Joan was a proud Warrior Woman with many of her fellow teachers and enjoyed going out to dinner with her many friends. She was an amazing host of family get togethers and was "the best mom ever!" Joan also excelled at being a mental health and well being advocate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth "Betty" (Polak) Krueger and sister, Nancy. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Steven; daughter, Joesette; sisters, Kathleen Krueger and Julie (Kevin) Kowarsch; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 4:30-7:30 pm at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings. Masks will be required. A PRIVATE Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
