Joan B. Harvey

Joan Barbara Harvey (Ninmer) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, after a heartbreaking journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Joan was born on October 7, 1942 in Manitowoc Wisconsin. She and her sister Jan attended Lutheran High School, where they met and fell in love with brothers John and Jim Harvey.

Joan and John were married December 26, 1963. Through John’s army service and professional career, they lived in Germany, Wisconsin, California and Missouri before settling in Minnesota.

Wherever life took them, Joan and John worked as a team to create a warm and welcoming home for their family. Joan was the heart of that home - keeping daily life running smoothly, helping with homework, and offering comfort and care whenever it was needed. She had a quiet strength and steady presence that made everyone feel safe and loved.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Joan loved working in her garden, where she nurtured flowers and vegetables with the same care she gave to her family. She was also a gifted baker, best known for her holiday cookies and homemade treats, which became cherished family traditions. Her warmth extended to all who visited, and countless memories were made with grandchildren and guests alike enjoying summer days in the backyard pool, always under Joan’s gentle and generous hospitality.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Arno and Alice Ninmer; twin sister, Jan; and brothers-in-law, Jim, Dick and Tom.

Joan is survived by John, her devoted and loving husband of 61years. She is also survived by children, Jeff (Judy), Dave (Kris), Karen and Tom. Joan was an adoring grandmother to Chris, Chandler (Patrick), Caitlin, Regan, Drew and Ella. She will be deeply missed by in-laws, Jim and Penny Wagner and Peter Harvey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Havenwood of Burnsville for their tender and loving care.

A memorial service for Joan will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Starkson Family ~ Anderson Chapel, 14850 Garrett Ave, Apple Valley, MN, with a visitation hour prior.
