Jeanne T. Hermanson

Jeanne T. Hermanson, age 99, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Benedictine Health and Senior Living.

Jeanne was born on February 13, 1926, in Austin, Minnesota, to Nick and Margaret (Christie) Wagner. The eighth of nineteen children, Jeanne was raised in a home full of love, laughter, and endless activity, something she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Pacelli High School in Austin and, during a visit to her family’s cabin in Prescott, Wisconsin, she met the love of her life, Roger, who happened to be the lifeguard at the beach. That meeting would lead to a marriage, a home in Prescott, and four beloved children.

Jeanne had an easygoing spirit and a warm, welcoming personality. People were naturally drawn to her. She was known for her quick wit, her ability to tell a great joke, and her joyful presence. She was always ready to go with the flow, whether that meant playing cards, traveling, or spending 18 winters in Texas following Roger’s next adventure. She never complained, never hesitated, just smiled and said yes.

Jeanne’s Catholicism was very important to her, and her deep faith grounded her life. And like all her Wagner siblings, she knew how to enjoy life, never missing a chance to share a laugh, tell a story, or find joy in the everyday.

She is survived by her children, Anne (Don) Piehl, Pete Hermanson, and John (Theresa) Hermanson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Gretchen McNamara; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; son, Patrick; and 17 brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 269 Dakota St S, Prescott, WI 54021. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. A reception will follow the Mass, with interment afterward at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Prescott.
