Jeanette I. Stocker, age 78 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of December 5th, 2020 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on November 11th, 1942 and raised on a farm in Badger, MN – a small town situated just 10 miles south of the Canadian border. Born of Norwegian heritage to John and Agnes Nelson, Jeanette loved a plate filled with lutefisk and lefse. After graduating from high school, she trained to be a nurse and followed her passion, living a life taking care of others. After working as a nurse in St. Paul for several years, Jeanette spent the last 35 years of her nursing career working at Haven Homes in Hastings. She loved her patients and treated them like family. Jeanette was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church where she could often be found lending a hand in the kitchen or serving as an usher where she made sure everybody who walked in felt welcome. Jeanette woke up singing each day and had a smile that could light up a room. She was gifted at handiwork and was known for her ability to knit, crochet and embroider. Jeanette is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard (John) Stocker; son, Johnny R. Stocker; daughter, Jeanne L. Theis (Jason); grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla; sister, Barb Baker (Roger); 1 niece and 2 nephews. Jeanette’s heart was filled with sunshine and to know her was to love her. Private family service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. In lieu of flowers or memorials, Jeanette's family requests memorials be given to Allina Health Hospice Foundation in her memory. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
