Jean K. Kummer

Jean K. Kummer, age 80 of Hastings died February 24, 2014 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN.Jean was born September 25, 1933 in Arkansaw, Wisconsin to George and Ila (Bien) Mountin. A graduate of Hastings High School, class of 1951, she married Roland Kummer on June 27, 1953 in Hastings and had worked for Smead Manufacturing for many years prior to retirement. Jean loved her family, especially family gatherings, and spending time with friends. She was a huge sports fan!She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roland in 2004; sister Doris (Eddie) Warner and brother George Mountin Jr. Jean is survived by her children Tom (Karen) Kummer of Eden Prairie, Linda (Tony) Dachel, Jeff (Cindy) Kummer and Carol (Randy) Gabrelcik, all of Hastings; also grandchildren Brian (Sarah) Kummer, Justin (Mary) Kummer, Becky Dachel, Leah Dachel, David Dachel, Tyler Gabrelcik and Nicole Gabrelcik; great grandchildren Jeremy and Ben Kummer; also many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 pm at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings, and one hour to mass at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Jean�s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
