Jean Colville, PhD, age 72, of Eagan, MN passed away Dec 23, 2014 with her family at her side. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA and was the first in her family to attend college. She received her undergraduate degree from Mount Mercy College and earned her graduate degree at Tulane University, where she met her future husband John. “Dr. Jean” was an integral part of the UND Medical School for 30 years as a Professor of Anatomy. As a woman in science, she served as an inspiration and role model to students, colleagues, friends and family. She had unwavering strength, brilliance, and a ridiculous sense of logic. She was a true friend to those who knew her and will be sorely missed by many. Jean is survived by her husband of 47 years, John; son, David (Marni) of St.Paul, MN; daughter, Marianne (Tom) Grant of Apple Valley; brother, Dan of Pittsburgh; 5 loving grandchildren, Michael, Nick, Zack, Lillian and Giselle; and many close friends and colleagues. Jean’s memorial service will be held at 2 PM , with her visitation at 1 PM, Friday, Jan 2, 2015 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 147th and Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, MN. Private interment at St. John’s Abbey Cemetery. Memorials and/or donations may be made to Sigma Xi (Grants-in-Aid of Research program).
