Jason “Jay” Heath DeBoom, 57 of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on March 23rd, 2026 in the comfort of his own home.
Jay was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Adrian and Jane (Henderson) DeBoom on May 18th, 1968. He was raised and went to high school in Le Sueur, Minnesota and graduated in 1986, continuing his education at Minnesota State Mankato and the University of Minnesota. On May 6th, 1995, he was united in marriage to Sandra Haupert in Currie, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they resided in multiple places before settling in Hastings, Minnesota, where they raised their two children Karli and Austin. In the fall of 2023, he and his wife Sandy moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to their grandchildren.
Jay passed away leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He was known for his willingness to engage with others and his ability to form lasting connections through conversation and shared interests.
He spent much of his professional life working at his father’s company, FCS, where he played an important role in continuing and eventually helping to lead the business. He took pride in carrying forward the work that had been established by his family.
Jay had a longstanding interest in sports, and was profoundly proud of his accomplishments in hockey, football, and track, including playing hockey at the collegiate level. These experiences remained an important part of his life, as he also was a supporter of Minnesota teams, primarily Minnesota Gopher sports (in fact, he met his wife at a Gopher hockey game), the Minnesota North Stars, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings. He continued this enjoyment through watching his children’s many sporting events.
He also maintained a strong interest in history, particularly the history of his own family, as he was proud to carry on the DeBoom name. He valued understanding the past and preserving those connections for future generations.
Jay is survived by his wife Sandy, children Karli (Mason) and Austin, grandchildren Genesis and River, father Adrian, brothers Terry, Tom (Sandi), and Burke (Suzette), nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Jay was preceded in death by his mother Jane, paternal grandparents Marinus and Eunice (Miller) DeBoom, maternal grandparents Charley and Carol (McEwen) Henderson, Sandy’s parents, and other family and friends.
