Janie J. Darsow

Janie J. (Simmons) Darsow, age 87, of Hastings, passed away at home on April 11, 2016. She was born in Magnolia, MS on February 14, 1929. Janie enlisted in the US Navy in 1948. She married Richard B. Darsow on Feb. 18, 1950 in Charleston, SC. Janie loved to cook, bake, can her vegetables and wear her hats to church. She was especially proud of her service to Smead Manufacturing Company as Human Resource Manager. She was preceded in death by parents, Herbert Simmons & Rettie Mae Simmons Futch; husband, Richard B. Darsow; daughter, Paula; and daughter in law, Lynn; brother, Fred; sisters, Ollie (Wally) Cox; and Virginia (Dale) Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia, of New Auburn, WI; and Theresa (Ross) Klongerbo of Winter Park, FL; son, Bruce of Hastings; grandchildren, Kristin; Ben; Stacy; Brady; sister, Willene (Ed) Trotter of Kemp, TX. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 5:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred. The Wise Family Funeral Home is serving the family.
