Janelle Saville-O'Mara

Janelle Saville-O’Mara, age 68, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday morning, November 19, 2025.

Janelle Lynn, the daughter of Ray and Jeannette (Danielson) Saville, was born into a loving family on September 10, 1957, in central North Dakota. She was raised on the Saville Family Farm near Braddock. The years there instilled her love for the prairie. Following high school graduation, Janelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa.

On August 2, 1980, she was united in marriage to Thomas O’Mara at the family farm and they recently celebrated forty-five years of marriage. Shortly after their wedding, Janelle and Tom moved to Minneapolis, where she continued working as Manager for various travel agencies, pursuing her love of travel and adventure. Later welcoming their two wonderful children, Erin and Brian. She so treasured being their mom.

Janelle enjoyed being challenged to a good game of Scrabble. She loved a good book, a good wine toast and a long walk. She loved to laugh and share her sense of humor. After a hard-fought medical journey, Janelle was deeply grateful for all who walked alongside her. May the light she sparked in countless others continue to shine and never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her three brothers; Dwight, Loren, and Terry.

Janelle is survived by her loving family: her husband, Tom; children, Erin (Andy) Sachsenmaier and Brian (Nicky) O’Mara; two granddaughters, Olivia and Evelyn; sisters, Renae and Serena; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Janelle’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Nokomis Heights Lutheran Church, 5300 10th Avenue South in Minneapolis, with Pastor Kristen Capel officiating. Private family interment will take place at the Braddock Community Cemetery in Braddock, North Dakota, at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 11, 2025, and to a reception immediately following the service on Friday, all at Nokomis Heights. There will not be a visitation prior to the service on Friday morning.

In addition to flowers, Janelle’s family kindly requests memorials be made to the Nokomis Heights Memorial Fund, the Braddock Alumni Association or the Braddock Community Cemetery.
