Jane G. Martin

Jane G. Martin, age 89; of Hastings, MN peacefully passed into the arms of her heavenly father on September 29, 2008 at the Augustana Health Care Center. Jane Geraldine was born September 22, 1919 to Carl A. and Alida M. (Anderson) Tieberg in Virginia, MN. She was a 1937 graduate of Mt. Iron High School, a 1939 graduate of Virginia Junior College and a 1941 graduate of Northwestern Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. From 1945 to 1946 she served in the Womens Army Corps, medical division where she was stationed at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, CO as an X-ray technician. She was employed by the Lenont Peterson Clinic in Virginia, MN until she retired in 1979. Jane married Lloyd A. Martin on April 19, 1947 and they made their home in Virginia until relocating to Hastings in June of 2000. She was a member of the First Covenant Church, Virginia; the VFW and American Legion Auxilliary for 38 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd, and her sister Mae Stolberg. She is survived by her daughter Patti (Mike) Ward of Vermillion; 4 grandchildren Renee Ward of St. Louis Park, Stacy (Phil) Kjelland of St. Paul, Kari (Jerry) Gilman of Henderson, and Brandon (Heather)Ward of Champlin; 8 great-grandchildren Zachary, Taylor, and Drew Gilman; Beck, Avis, and Finn Kjelland; Grace and Everett Ward; nephew Larry (Amelia) Stolberg of Chanhassen; niece Lissa Stolberg of Neerim South, Victoria, Australia; nephews Ralph (Connie) Martin of Alexandria, MN and Robert (Ellie) Martin of Colorado Springs; friends and extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the First Covenant Church in Virginia, MN. The honorary pallbearers are Bob Branstrom, John Branstrom, Roger Anderson, Ken Anderson, Tito Gianlorenzi, and Arne Stolberg. Interment with full military honors will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, October 6th at 10:30AMassembly area #2.
