Jane Carol Wendt

Jane C. Wendt, age 81 of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Augustana Care of Hastings.Jane Carol, the daughter of Jacob "Jack" and Emma (Jeleric) Herrick, was born on September 1, 1934 in Willard, Wisconsin. After graduating from Stillwater High School, Jane continued her education in Airline Art School. She worked for a short time as an air traffic controller for both United Northwest Airlines. On June 25, 1956, Jane was united in marriage to Willard Wendt in rural Afton. Jane then began helping Willard run their business, Wendt Refrigeration, for many years. She loved quilting and spending time on different art projects. Jane also enjoyed volunteering as a library aide throughout the Hastings School District.She was preceded in death by her parents.Jane is survived by her husband, Willard of Hastings; her children, Carol Wendt of Bellingham, WA, Anne Hemstock of Osakis, MN, and Joseph (Laurie) Wendt of Byron, MN; her three grandchildren, Joel Durham, Andrew Wendt and Jacob Hemstock; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Memorial services will be held11 AM Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 202 West Eighth Street in Hastings, with visitation held one hour prior to the service at church. A reception will follow the service at church. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Service in Hastings.
