James R. "Jim" Green

James “Jim” Robert Green, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday evening, December 17, 2021. Jim was born to Robert “Bob” and Rose Marie (Pribyl) Green on August 13, 1957, in Owatonna, Minnesota. He graduated from Winona State University and settled in Hastings, Minnesota with the love of his life, Karla (Beissel) Green. Jim was an avid golfer and collector of coins and classic rock vinyl. When he wasn’t volunteering at golf tournaments, he enjoyed listening to the radio and following Minnesota sports. Jim could also be found tending his myriad indoor plants, petting his beloved cat, Bella, and birdwatching on his balcony. Jim filled his days with bowling and bike rides, walking at Spring Lake Park, volunteering as a eucharistic minister at Regina Memorial Chapel, and meeting new people on his travels. He loved the Peanuts comic strip and crafting very bad puns. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; uncle, Richard "Dick" Green; mother-in-law, Virginia Beissel; nephew, Alex Beissel; and by his great aunt, Loretta Foss. Jim is survived by Karla Green; his loving sons, David (Mary) Green and Daniel (fiancée, Jill Jensen) Green; siblings Bill (Cheryl) Green and Shirley (Rob) Shirley; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception immediately following the Mass, all at church on Wednesday.
