James George Kzaley, age 80, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Apple Valley Village Health Care Center.
Jim was born on December 21, 1944, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Michael and Cecelia (Aside) Kzaley. He graduated from Cretin High School and went on to attend the University of Minnesota, where he studied electrical engineering.
After college, Jim began his career and soon met the love of his life, Cherilynn Thorsett. The two married and made their home in Apple Valley, where they raised their three sons and spent 55 wonderful years together.
Jim had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, or simply exploring, he was happiest surrounded by nature. Family vacations to the lake were a treasured tradition, and the cabin on Big Pine Lake near Garrison became a beloved gathering place filled with years of memories.
He will be remembered as a wonderful big brother, a kind friend, a social and easy-going companion, and a devoted father who was very proud of his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Cherilynn; his children, Daniel Kzaley, Stephen (Kristin) Kzaley, and Kevin (Bridget) Kzaley; his grandchildren, Ellie, Connor, Casey, Katie, Morgan, and Brayden; his sister, Patricia (Leon) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Teresa Kzaley.
