James John Downey

James John Downey, age 83, of Hastings, MN, passed away on August 16, 2017 at Southview Acres in West St. Paul, MN. He was born on March 8, 1934 to James and Opal (Reasoner) Downey in Roan, Iowa. James married Theresa Teuber at St. Mary’s Church in New Trier in 1953. He was a U.S. Veteran and served in the United States Army and the Air National Guard. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kay; infant daughter, Agnes; and infant son, Gerald. He is survived by loving wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Mike (Danae) Lang, Jon Lang, and Christine (Erik) Pihl; son in law, Terry Lang; great grandchildren, Luke and Selina Lang; brothers, Larry Downey, Tom Downey, Tim (Pat) Downey; sister, Pat; and many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 24th at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th Street, Hastings. A visitation will be held two hours prior to mass on Thursday. Interment, with military honors provided by VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210, will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
