Age 85 of Apple Valley, passed away on March 24, 2017 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; step-son, Christopher Thompson. Survived by wife, Janet Thompson King; daughters, Julie and Karen King; step-son, Nealon (Jodi) Thompson; grandchildren, Nicholas and Amy; brothers, Tom (Lillian) and Joe (Debbie); sister, Carol (Dick) Vitry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim served in the U.S. Airforce. He worked for the U.S. Government including the F.A.A. Jim loved history and was a civil war buff. He enjoyed traveling, aviation, reading and classical music. Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Wed., March 29, 2017 at Church of St. Joseph, 13900 Biscayne Ave. W., Rosemount, with visitation one hour prior. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org/donate/).
